London provides a wealth of possibilities for a day out or an exciting weekend away. Despite the crowds and the busy streets it is full of things to do and places to see, so whatever your tastes might be you certainly won’t get bored in a hurry.
But while the first image of London that you get is usually one of tall buildings and old structures standing alongside the newer ones, there is a greener side to London as well; if you’re looking to get away from it all then this might be just what you are looking for.
The great thing is that it doesn’t matter whether you want to spend a couple of quality days with your partner or get some time away with the kids, there are plenty of things that will appeal to everyone.
City farms, for example, are springing up all over the place, so wherever you are staying you are sure to find one nearby. A great example of a city farm is the one in Spitalfields, which hosts special events from time to time and really gets the kids involved in what’s going on. It’s also free admission, which makes it a wonderful choice if you are looking for a weekend away on a budget.
Of course if you are anywhere near Regent’s Park then London Zoo is a must see for children - and grown ups - of all ages. It might not be free to get in but it’s well worth the money to have the opportunity to see thousands of different animals up close. The usual favourites are all there, alongside some stunning exhibits that bring you even closer to the wildlife.
If you are lucky enough to visit London during a spell of warm weather, why not visit the famous Lido at Tooting Bec? This has been open for over a century, and there is nothing quite like enjoying a swim outdoors right in the middle of the city.
If you are seriously into your gardening and would like to see how good everything can look, then you mustn’t miss a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. There are regular guided walks taking place here to make sure you see the best that Kew has to offer. You can also see the famous Great Pagoda, which has been standing for nearly two hundred and fifty years.
When you are planning where you would like to go, make sure you find the best London hotels nearby so you don’t have to travel any further than necessary. Once you’ve had a taste of the fresh air and open spaces that London has to offer, you’ll be sleeping soundly almost as soon as you return back to your room.
