NC Mountain Cabin Rentals For the Whole Family

My family has always taken two vacations per year- one to the beach and one to the mountains. Asheville, NC cabins have always offered us exactly what we wanted- the chance to feel like we're out in nature, while still being pretty close to all the fun new experiences of the city of Asheville itself. While it is certainly important to have lots of family fun together, it can help to get a little time apart as well- too much togetherness is, well, annoying at times. That's why NC mountain cabin rentals work so well for us- my husband can take our son fishing for an afternoon, while my daughter and I head into town to do a little shopping. Then, when we reconvene for dinner, we all have fun stories to tell the others about our day.



Some years back we all realized that no matter how much fun we were having on our vacations, that we all missed the dogs a lot. I used to call the dog-sitter every other day and when I would get off the phone, there would be three eager faces staring at me, just dying to make sure that everything was well with our pups. Well, we'd had enough of spending our vacation time worrying about the dogs back home and so we sought out Asheville pet friendly cabins. Our vacations have been much more relaxing ever since!



When we first started our search, I was very disappointed at how few places we were able to find that allowed dogs. Sure, they can be a rambunctious lot, but many are quite well behaved and a simple security deposit is all it takes to protect the property owner. Well, needless to say, we were overjoyed when we found Cabin Cove Farm. Located in Leicester, just to the northwest of Asheville, it is convenient to Asheville itself, the Biltmore Estate as well as other areas of interest such as Hot Springs and Maggie Valley. An actual working farm, they have some pretty interesting animals, including angora goats and llamas!



Several different kinds of classes are also available on the farm, including pottery, felting, spinning, knitting, and jewelry making! We try to learn something new each year that we are there, although I'll be the first to admit, I usually need a refresher course on what we learned the year before by the time we arrive back. Of course, the hot tub is always a big attraction in our family. We have fun with the kids, then send them to bed so that my husband and I can enjoy some peace and quiet, looking out at the stars. In the morning, while the dog runs happily through the pasture below the cabin, we all take a long walk, stopping to pick fruit along the way. It is a pretty idyllic setting, if you ask me.
