Cathedral is recognized as a church building supervised by a bishop, and so the central church building of a bishopric is an n administrative unit of the larger church. The cathedral building is also identified in hierarchical Christian denominations like Catholic and Anglican Churches. A cathedral building is often, not always a large and very impressive building, and on the other hand, many large, imposing church building are not actually technically cathedrals. Cathedral is a name appeared from term cathedral church, in that it is been used as an adjective. A cathedral is a church building including the word cathedra meaning (In Latin) “chair” – of the bishop. In the early world, the chair was a sign of both a magistrate and teacher and so just perfect for representing the power, rules and duties of the church bishop. What makes a cathedral a cathedral is the attendance of the church bishop, not something that is intrinsic in the church building itself. Therefore, a church building or a cathedral might gain or lose cathedral status. Some cathedrals were also built as cathedrals, but others simply were not. Church buildings, which have lost cathedral status, are known as proto-cathedrals. In addition, a church building or a cathedral might further serve for the time being as a cathedral, in which case it is termed a pro-cathedral. When it comes to Catholic Church, the cathedral system is more compound than a single cathedral church managing each diocese. Some dioceses have co-cathedrals, which shares the power. In addition to the simple cathedral church, there are cathedrals with rising levels of power and self-respect: the metro supporting church, the primatial church, and other patriarchal church, each of which manage all cathedrals building and other churches lower in the chain of command within their jurisdiction. Though cathedrals do not have to be a huge and intricate building, many are, as they are frequently built to imply visually the power and magnificence of the church building. Cathedrals are therefore among the biggest, most stunning, and most visited church buildings across the globe, and naturally a major landmark in the cities they occupy.
