If you are thinking of going into the recruitment world alone and setting up your own recruitment agency, there are things that you need to consider.  One of the main causes for concern is of course the cost.

If you are considering running your own recruitment agency, here are a few of the costs that you need to consider:

Firstly the premises that you run your recruitment agency from will need to be paid for.  If you had planned on running your agency from your spare bedroom, then it’s time for you to rethink your plans as you will not be a success.  To be a success you will need administrative or secretarial support and ultimately an office to work from.

Along with your office costs, such as rent, you will also have bills to pay for.  These bills are likely to be electrical and gas, as well as a grounds keeping cost, depending on where you are based.

When you are trying to think of how much your electricity bill may be, I can tell you now it’s likely to be much higher than you think.  You will have computers switched on all day which is not likely to be the same situation as it was at home.

Your heating bill will also be quite high, as you will need to ensure that all of your staff are warm enough.

Aside from premises, potentially the most important weapon at your disposal is going to be your telephone.  A successful recruitment agent spends a huge portion of their day on their phones making call after call.  Many of these calls are likely to be to mobile phones, so brace yourself for a large phone bill.
Nowadays there are ways that you can reduce your phone bill, with many people now switching over to voice over IP phones.

Along with the cost of your office land line phone, you will also need a work mobile phone.  This will be switched on all the time if you want to be a success.  By all the time this also includes when you are abroad on holiday.  Making calls from foreign countries can be expensive, but if you need to do it to ensure your business is running smoothly, you will do it.

So there you have your three biggest, most regular out goings that you will need to account for on a monthly basis for your own recruitment agency. Your location costs and your phone bill may be high, but as you know, successful recruitment agencies more than cover the cost!
