Making Changes For Graduate Jobs

When you’re a student you can be a law to yourself. You can have any number of bad habits and by all accounts not take particularly good care of yourself or appearance and still blend in with the crowd!

But as harsh as reality is, once you have graduated from your university or college course, the time to make changes will soon be upon you.

The reason for this is that the working world is much different to the world and lifestyle that you experienced whilst in University.

In reality, you will need to take a long and hard look at yourself and your personal traits.

To begin with, you will need to look in the mirror and take a look at your hair style.  Many students are famed for having crazy or even outrageous hair! Messy or hair styled with half a tub of gel does suit a student, but it does not suit a worker in the more elitist professions.  It’s probably time that you went for something far less distinctive!

While you are looking in the mirror, take a look at your face! If you’re a man, then you should have started shaving by now!  If you do need to shave, but tend not to, then it’s time to start doing so on a regular basis.  Like it or not, the cleanly shaven look is the look of choice throughout many professions

The next thing you need to look at is your personal hygiene.  Whether your used to doing so or not, you need to shower every day, ideally in the morning to remove any signs of the sweating you did whilst you slept.
While we’re talking about morning habits, yes, we all wake up a little later than we had planned at times, but you must never, ever forget to brush your teeth after you’ve eaten your breakfast.

People tend not to have the most pleasant of breath in the morning in any case, but combined with the smell of breakfast, it’s not the best of greetings!

Those three pieces of advice may seem straight forward and maybe a little obvious.  But you will be surprised at the amount of people who do not do the above and ultimately either struggle to gain employment, or even get kept on after an initial period.

So do yourself and your career prospects a favour and get a hair cut, shave (if you’re a male) and clean your teeth!
