Andy Roddick arrived at the SAP Open this week not even knowing how he was going to play or where his game was as he had played really scarcely this season. Roddick left San Jose with his third title at this competition in his hands , following a 6-4, 7-5 triumph in the final of the tournament on Sunday; his confidence is definitely back with this win.
"You want to build on this and use it," Roddick said. "If you get through a couple of tough matches like I did this week, it gives you an opportunity to go on a hot streak. I think maybe I got my foot in the door as far as that's concerned and now I need to build on that."
He had played merely four competitive games since winning the Davis Cup which was delayed last season; he got stunned in the third round of the Australian Open. The top-seeded Roddick had a third-set tiebreaker in the opening round against Chris Guccione prior to discover his way to win. With this victory Roddick has accepted a wild-card access to play in Memphis this coming week in order to obtain additional training.
"It was important for me to come here and play well because I didn't have a good result in Australia and I hadn't really played much tennis this year so far," Roddick said. "This year might have been more important than other years."

The 29-year-old tennis player was working for his third career title. He rolled into a fan favorite this week with his engaging personality. "Throughout the week I need to show the emotions, show the way I feel, show the way I am," he said. "I think that tennis is missing that a little bit but I'm not doing that because the tennis is missing it. It's me. That's my personality. That's the way I am." Said Stepanek.
