Casters are basically small wheels used to
supporting legs of heavy furniture, support trucks, machinery to facilitate
movement and transportation. In Today’s world most of the house appliances such
as stoves, Television sets, room coolers, washing machines and refrigerators
come with casters, as do many types of furniture. Caster wheels can be made up
from a vast variety of materials and can come in many designs. Wheels might be
grooved with aluminum, plastic, wood or soft rubber.
Most casters are designed to be more
utilitarian than stylish so as to prove useful and beneficial rather than
showing off. Though as the trends keep changing, casters are becoming more and
more decorative than ever before, with wheels in various bright colors and
patterns. Casters are a major part of an integrated material handling system as
they do solve the problems of shifting to a great extent.
There are many kinds of caster some of which
are Light Duty Casters that are Multi-purpose casters used for light duty
applications. Another type of most commonly used casters is the Medium Duty
Casters which are usually visible in Industries and are designed for heavier
applications accordingly. The next range includes Heavy Duty Casters which are
used to keep your very heavy loads rolling. Some assets seem to be immovable

are used for store fixtures, ottomans, service carts, dining room chairs, and
stereo equipment.
Casters have become a need of the day and we
all use them without noticing the ease they provide us. Without caster wheels
we will surely face a great problem some day. Some of the benefits of casters

Casters are readily available at home improvement stores and one does not have
to run around a lot to find suitable once. Casters are used in many
applications for movably supporting loads. Smooth-wheeling chair casters can
allow employees to multitask without much strain.
Casters are also very useful in offices where
workspaces need to be rearranged constantly for maximization. When you are
going to replace or purchase new casters you must be clear with the basic
things in your mind like the wheel type that will be suitable for floor
protection, what exactly should be the wheel diameter that can give necessary
mobility, What will the maximum load, In what type of environment will the
casters or wheels operate say water, oils, acids, corrosive materials, or
excessive temperatures, How many swivel and how many rigid casters are needed,
How are the casters to be mounted I.e.
Top Plate, Stem, Hollow Kingpin, etc. All these questions do matter while going
for caster wheels. Keeping these points in mind you can be sure of getting top
presentation without excessive investment. And equally it is significant
selecting the right wheel or caster will save money in the long term by heading
off downtime, unnecessary maintenance expenses, and premature replacement.
