A new Internet Marketer is an EASY TARGET! This statement is unfair, unethical, wrong, mean, costly, unscrupulous, and more...but argghhhh...it is TRUE! Easy Target, Information Overload and LACK OF FOCUS are major problems that new IM's face. You get bombarded with more products, tools, and services than you even knew existed. Confusion and doubt are already setting in. You do need help and lots of it. Many IM's are sincere and do want to provide you with what you need, and have the best of intentions. Others are LIARS... YES...LIARS! You are new and vulnerable and in need! You are an EASY TARGET! The honest IM tells you that in 30, 60, or 90 days you can make, perhaps, $50 to several hundred dollars...the dishonest IM just has to inflate those figures (lie, with a disclaimer). Which will you probably buy $50 in 90 days or $5,000 in one week...the latter of course. Let me make a disclaimer...there are some IM's that have made thousands and even millions and virtually overnight. What they had was a mailing list of, perhaps 500,000 or more and an army of affiliates and JV's...which a newbie doe not have. Most Internet Marketers are not liars and some are the best people you would ever want to know, but the few bad apples tend to spoil the whole barrel. How do you protect yourself? I wish I could provide you with a foolproof answer. Here are a few tips that may help. You may still get burnt, but less often. DO NOT MAKE AN IMPULSE PURCHASE Oh, but the offer sounds so good and the price goes up or time runs out, if you do not take action RIGHT AWAY, NOW! (these are just good techniques to create urgency). This is a true story. I visited a killer sales page and went all the way to the purchase page and really had to force myself to STOP and CHECK THINGS OUT before buying. I did check things out and to make the story a little shorter, I found that the company started in June (if I recall correctly), and one of the testimonials was in March! Just three months BEFORE the company started.. .hmmm. Take your time to make a good thoughtful decision, not an impulsive one...your wallet will thank you, * IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD If the offer seems to be too good to be true, take it as a warning sign. Research and then decide. * DO YOU REALLY NEED THIS PRODUCT, TOOL, OR SERVICE? A sophisticated Web Design service and/or Professional Copywriting are examples. If you can afford these services, you will be glad you made the purchase. If you cannot afford these services, an ebook on web design or copywriting may be a good alternative. * YOU NEED IT...STILL DO THE RESEARCH BEFORE PURCHASING Some information and knowledge, some tools and services are essential. An autoresponder is an essential tool, for example. Ready for another true story? I went through three software programs (none worked). I know that some software programs are great I found three that were not-grin. Then, I found two third party autoresponders that were cheap...hmmm? Cheap is my next tip. I continued to research...one of the two cheap autoresponders never responded to my free trial registration and the other (come to find out), had a bad click through rate. My final choice had as good a click through rate as any in the industry and still much less per month than AWeber. Do your homework, it will pay you back in the long run. * CHEAP, FREE, EXPENSIVE...DO YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR? NO...NO...NO! Some of the best information is free. Some of the best tools and ebooks are free Do not let "FREE" devalue an item. I make sure that anything that I might offer for FREE, has significant value. Why? How can I build confidence and trust with inferior products, free or not.(See Author's Bio for more). So if it is free, go for it...but only if you need it...you will just clutter your hard drive and your brain. Cheap is the one to be careful about. If it is a good deal, great...but,again, do your research. Any time you waste your money, you also will have wasted time and energy that could have been better spent elsewhere. Expensive? If something is expensive and you cannot afford it, you find a lower cost alternative. If you can afford it, you still we it to yourself to compare. * Look beyond the print or audio or video??? By this, I mean, look at the character of the seller. Most IM's write their own material, even do their own audio and video, so look beyond the words and see if you can get a glimpse or a feel about their character. Are they real? Do they seem sincere and honest? If something seems wrong, it may well be wrong. In Summary: As a new Internet Marketer, you will discover how much you need to learn, and all kinds of tools and services that will help you. Each of these areas means an opportunity for someone to try to sell you something. If you will take the time to make a wise decision, you will save yourself money, time, and energy...Most new IM's need as much of all three as possible.
