Obesity goes hand in hand with a number of serious medical conditions, illnesses such as: type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer are all on the rise. Making the decision to lose weight is just the beginning of the journey and that decision needs to be made by you for the right reasons. Do you want to lose weight to feel better about your appearance? Do you want to lose weight to achieve better health? If you answered yes to either one or both of these questions then you are certainly on the right path. If you have come to the decision to lose weight for any other reason, then sadly your journey could prove to be a difficult one. There are countless quick fix programs available however they tend to be either very strict, sometimes include foods that you don't particularly like and regularly include foods that are difficult to find or they lack the vital nutrients that are necessary for optimal health. We are all of the mindset that weight loss and dieting is extremely difficult, the word itself instantly conjures up thoughts of feeling miserable, feeling deprived and feeling hot, breathless and sweaty because exercise is going to be a necessary component of your weight loss venture. Sometimes, just the thought of dieting can tire you out or induce panic. The perception that weight loss is difficult is a fallacy, mankind haven't always been this fat. Convenience foods and fast foods seem to have taken the place of well balanced meals. We are led to believe that they will save time in the kitchen however a simple well balanced meal for the family needn't be difficult and it certainly shouldn't take a lot of time to prepare. When it comes down to it, not every one knows how to prepare a well balanced meal and some people consider themselves incapable in the kitchen so that is why convenience foods have become so convenient but what is the true cost? Are we getting fatter because of our diets? Are we lacking vital nutrients by choosing the "easy option"? Are these convenience foods be detrimental to our health and if so, how so? It is as simple as going back to basics, include fresh fruits, vegetables and water in your diet and try to incorporate some form of exercise into your daily routine. Exercise comes in many forms so finding something that you enjoy and can fit into your lifestyle needn't be a difficult task.
