Up and until very recently I was someone who would read just about everything I could find on diabetes. If the truth be known it was getting on my nerves and everyone around me for that matter. You see, staying fit and healthy after close family members being diagnosed with diabetes as I was is understandable but if you are not careful you exchange one obsession with another.

Reading articles on diabetes and health helps me to keep up with the latest news in diabetes, new diabetic recipes, diabetic diet, supplements, and other aspects of longevity. When you find that writers of articles on diabetes and health alter the results of the information they give each time an article is written it is not surprising people end up getting angry and ignoring them.

Take soy for example, one group of scientists tell you it's good for you then another group say don't touch it because it promotes the development of female hormones in men amongst other side effects. They just don't realise that most of us just want to stay fit, healthy and live as long as possible and to do this we need their help, not hindrance.

You see it becomes very confusing when each and every article on diabetes and health you read has a different answer to the same problem. Until recently, alcohol was thought of as bad for you, as were chocolate, and coffee. So we have scientists now telling us that provided we use them in moderation, dark chocolate, dark beer or Guinness and coffee have positive and health benefits.

It won't be long before these same scientists are telling us that new research shows that cake, ice-cream and fast food are the best foods to eat to lower you cholesterol. It has taken me a long time but in future, I will look after my own interests, be the judge of what I will and will not eat and ignore what these people say. I am not going to stop reading articles on diabetes and health because I still enjoy them but I do not intent to let them dictate how I should live my life.

I think I will still read articles on diabetes and health because some of the information does make sense but in future I just want to be the judge. Living a healthier life and being happier is what is really important to me so with a bit of luck I should be able to achieve this mostly on my own with very little help form experts.

Not knowing is the worst because risks of untreated diabetes puts us at a terrible risk of complications

Quick Check For Diabetes Symptoms

All too often we get sick but ignore the symptoms we may be
feeling, shrugging them off to a cold, stress from work, or
just not feeling well.

There are certain symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored if
they develop. These symptoms could lead to blindness,
amputation of limbs, coma or even death.
