As more and more elderly people prefer to stay at home independently, the need for home healthcare services has increased manifold. But old age people are not the only ones requiring attention. Even youngsters and otherwise healthy people mat require health care services at home. Those who are recovering from serious illnesses and accidents require medical care while at home. The number of chronically ill children and those suffering from terminal diseases need constant care. The disabled category necessarily has to be assisted by home healthcare services.Usually, those recuperating from illnesses prefer to stay at home rather than be admitted in hospitals. Cost of stay in a nursing home may be too prohibitive for most to continue in hospital for prolonged periods. At the same time nursing care cannot be provided effectively by the family alone. In such cases, home healthcare services may be the only option. Though the services may not extend all through the day, part time services are usually availed of. Some patients may require regular exercise regime which can only be conducted under expert supervision .Here again, specialized homecare personnel come into the picture.The requirement of home healthcare services for old age people is more common. As senior citizens prefer to stay alone at home rather than in a old age institution, they require healthcare services at home. Affluent old people prefer the dignity of staying at home than opting for old age homes. At the other end of the spectrum we have young children recovering from serious illnesses. They require the comfort and love of their near and dear ones. However, they may require skilled medical assistance. Here again home healthcare services are the only option available. This way children can stay in the comfort of their homes, yet get specialized medical services.
