Turning your knowledge into products today is really simple and easy. People get overwhelmed when they think of all the work that it goes to write a book or make a dvd because they think it will take years to complete a project or such an endeavor would be extremely expendive. Let me introduce you the concept of repurposing. You focus on getting your content in one format that is easy for you and then use that content in different form and for different purposes.. Repurposing happens all the time and the best part of it is that, because different people like to consume content in different formats, you end up reaching a broader audience. Here is how it works: First pick a subject that you know a lot a about or have a great passion for. Best case scenario is when you have both. Let's pick knitting as an example. You know a lot about it and have decided to create a 50 minute audio with tips for knitters. You sit in front of your computer with a microphone and record the tips. You can use the microphone in your computer or you can use a conference phone line to record. Use www.freeconferencecall.com if you prefer the line recording. We are not talking here about having the perfect equipment, studio etc. What people really pay attention to is the quality of the content you are providing. Good information is what people are really looking for. Don't look for perfection because the search for perfection will keep you from having the product finished. Even if you managed to produce a perfect product, I can promise you that after two months you wouldn't like it anymore. People are like that. Focus on doing things. They don't need to be perfect. Ok, now that you have recorded your 50 minute audio, the moment you burn a cd, put a graphic in it, you have your first product ready. That is exciting, but it is also just the beginning. Let's see now what else this audio recording can become: You can break this recording in 5 smaller segments and have the first 5 episodes of a podcast You can send the audio to a transcriber and have a report , add some graphics and case studies and you have an e-book You can use the same transcription as content for your website. With the cd and the transcription, you can put them is a 3 ring binder, add some checklists and exercises and you have a home study course. Since you already have 5 segments, they can become 5 lessons in a eCourse If you have a member's only area in your website, it can become content available to members only. The transcription, you may also break in small pieces and use them as messages in your auto-responder. Give the audio as a free download on your website to generate leads and build a list. If you participate in joint ventures, use the audio as a bonus to grow your list. Break the audio in smaller pieces and give them as tips. Get the audio, add a power point and now you can have your first DVD. No ideas for your blog? Break the transcription in small chunks and use as blog posts. Bigger pieces use as articles. These are just some possibilities because you could turn that same audio into much more. I gave you 15 ideas to repurpose an audio file. The cost for you? The audio recording was free, the transcription for one hour of audio can be done for $30. 15 different options from one hour of work. Not bad huh? Imagine if beside this audio you also had one hour of video, some articles written etc? Besides the money you could be making with the products, you'd also be working on the perception that people have of you being an expert and in building trust with prospects and clients. Not to mention that information products can become your most powerful marketing tool. Don't make any excuses. Start the year making a list of information products you could be making and make them become real. http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/aftrack.asp?afid=761457
